BlueBurst was founded by Khalill "Swamp" Marsh, a fighting game enthusiast from Chicago.
After completing high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and had the opportunity to travel and connect with various fighting game communities, including Alaska Gamers, CafeId, and Standing Fierce. Through these experiences, he was able to immerse himself in different cultures and gameplay styles.
Khalill’s passion for fighting games led him on a journey to connect with other players around the world, and he found that forums such as Shoryuken (now SuperCombo) and Tekken Zaibatsu were popular for in-person matchmaking. However, with the decline of these forums and the rise of disorganized platforms like Discord servers, Facebook groups, and Reddit communities, he saw the need for a more centralized and organized way for players and businesses to connect.
What is the origin of the name BlueBurst?
The name BlueBurst is a nod to a technique found in popular fighting games BlazBlue and Guilty Gear. The technique involves pushing the opponent away to gain space and strategize. The concept of organization and strategy is at the heart of BlueBurst, which was developed during the COVID-19 lockdown as a way to keep players and businesses connected post-pandemic.
